Strictly enforce national laws and regulations, strengthen construction of environmental protective facilities. Shagang strictly obeys all of national environmental protection laws and regulations, implements “three simultaneity management” environmental protection system, which means that environmental protection facilities of all projects and the main facilities will be designed, implemented, and put into operation at the same time, besides, the investment of environmental protection facilities should account for 20% above of the total project investment.

Strengthen environmental protection management, reduce pollutant emission. Recently, Shagang has further improved three-stage environmental protection management networks, making environmental protection responsibilities workable step-by-step through stimulating Shagang staff’s enthusiasm about protecting environment, intensifying supervision and inspection management of environmental protection, establishing monthly economic responsibility assessment system to avoid illegal behaviors about environmental protection happened in the production process so that it helps related personnel to improve their work responsibility and environmental awareness and make sure the pollutant can reach the emission standards. The key point is to do well in the work of environmental publicity and education as well as operation management of environmental protection facilities. Take the environmental protection facilities and production facilities together into common maintenance management, strictly urge the overhaul units to do the spot inspection, routing inspection and repair the facilities daily, weekly, and yearly, make sure environmental protection facilities checked and repaired just as production facilities at the same time. In addition, clearly define duties and responsibility; feasibly implement responsibilities, as a result, people who do maintenance will take the responsibilities. In order to ensure that equipments can achieve the standards and prepare for operation, Shagang distributes the environmental protection management to every personnel, and carries out the system in which that certain equipment should be appointed to certain people; as a result, people who use the equipment will take the responsibility.

Take the upgrade of product structure and adjustment of technological facilities structure as its orientation for realizing emission reduction from the origin. Recently, Shagang has upgraded its products and adjusted its technological equipments based on current production system, insisted on the promoting connotation road, eliminated energy-intensive, high-polluting product equipments, and introduced energy-saving, low-polluting projects. Shagang comprehensively maximizes different kinds of energy and resources, and realizes energy conservation, emission reduction according to facilities and production technology. Realize effective monitoring about pollutant emission, energy supply of the whole enterprise. In 2006, Shagang invested 80 million Yuan to build “Environmental Protection, Energy Management and Controlling Center”. This center is a system of environmental protection and energy management in the whole enterprise with integration of management and controlling, it contains three function levels: basic automation, process monitoring, and management and it has functions of monitoring, controlling, optimizing, diagnosing faults, besides it can effectively monitor pollutant emission and energy supply of the whole enterprise.
